To Veil or Not to Veil, That is the Question...

Wedding watchers eagerly awaited the news and pictures of Chelsea Clinton's wedding on Saturday. The one thing I noticed once the pictures were released? That Chelsea was wearing her veil in each and every picture.

I bring this up, because as a wedding planner, I know brides who can't wait to get that thing off their head the minute they are pronounced husband and wife, or others who choose not to wear one at all.  Long before I was a wedding planner, I remember my mom saying, "brides should always keep their veils on for the reception, otherwise they're just another girl in a white strapless dress" (something only a mom could say :).

Being a bit old-fashioned myself, I do have to say there's something special about wearing a veil and while my opinion isn't as cut and dry as my mom's, I do have to agree that I like it when a bride keeps it on -- at least for awhile. There's something so beautiful about the way a veil trails during a first dance or a dance with her father.

What do you think? Will you take off your veil right away on your wedding day? If you're already married, did you ditch yours as soon as you said "I do"? Would love to hear your thoughts.
