Reflecting her experience, Hunter's Five Quick Tips are the following:
1. Hire professionals.
2. Come up with a realistic budget based on your priorities.
3. Don’t lose sight of the fact that this is your wedding and you are marrying someone you love. Have fun with the whole process.
4. Remember that your vendors are there to working for you, not against you. You’re all on the same team.
5. Stop looking at bridal magazines at least 3 months before your wedding. There are wonderful things in there, but they can cause you lots of indecision and budget overages.
And a few more questions for Hunter...
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My favorite thing about my wedding was how personal and unique it was. We had a small ceremony in my parent’s back yard and then a giant reception at the local country club. Our florist designed the ballroom like a Mexican marketplace out of a Diego Rivera painting. We had a strolling dinner, before strolling dinners were fashionable. Since I lived in Philadelphia and the wedding was in Alabama and we were moving to California, I let my vendors plan the majority of the event. I told them my likes and dislikes and let them take it from there. For this reason, every detail of my wedding was a delicious little surprise. I loved that!
If you could change one thing about your wedding, what would it be?
The one thing I would change about my wedding is not having one. Strange, I know, but being older and a little wiser, I would have taken that money and traveled for months around the world. Of course, it’s easy to say that once you’ve had a wedding. And, of course, this is not advice I would give to my clients, I need to stay in business!
