Marin Headlands Engagement Session with Joel Flory

Confession: when I see engagement sessions on my favorite wedding blogs, I often quickly skim past them and scroll to the next wedding (I know that photographers are cringing to hear me say that). Being a planner, I of course want to see DETAILS, so I love real wedding blog features for just that. I find in general that engagement shoots have gotten to be so gimmicky, and I see couples using way too many props -- often things that aren't even relevant to them. But I completely see the value in engagement shoots and highly encourage my clients to schedule them so that they (and their photographer/s) can get more comfortable with each other. It is such a great opportunity for brides and grooms to relax in front of the camera and have a little fun.

Today's engagement shoot is so incredibly beautiful, and gimmick-free. It took place in the Marin Headlands, quite possibly one of the most breath-taking places in Northern California. These pictures make me realize that I need to spend more time outside.

05floryphoto_engagement_marinRegardless of how you feel about engagement sessions, I think you'll like these adorable pictures from the Flory Photo team. I had the pleasure of finally meeting Joel, his wife Cara, and one of the cutest almost-two-year olds I've ever met, Ingrid, this weekend. What a nice family and great team! I am so excited to work with Joel on Natalie and Seth's wedding next year. Enjoy these awesome pics!
