Five Quick Wedding Tips with Sweet & Saucy Owner & Head Pastry Chef, Melody Brandon

Today's Five Quick Tips are from pastry chef and sweet gal Melody Brandon of Sweet and Saucy Shop. Melody's dessert studio is located in Orange County and her cakes, cupcakes and sugar cookies couldn't be cuter. In the last year, Melody also opened a very cool online store, Sweet and Saucy Supply, where you can shop for the vintage-style cake platters you often seen her confections displayed on, as well as other baking accessories such as cupcake liners. Lastly, she also has a great resource list on her blog full of baking resources, in case you're wondering where you can find things like specialty sugars, chocolate supplies, and pastry chef equipment!

Without further ado, here are Melody's 5 Quick Tips for planning your wedding!

1. HIRE a wedding planner! I believe the right wedding planner can make or break your wedding. You put so much work (and money) into your wedding day that you want to enjoy it to its fullest and not have to worry about anything.

2. Make sure and take your engagement photos with the photographer you will be having shoot your wedding. This is a great time to get to know him or her and having that time beforehand will make your wedding day so much more fun and relaxing.

3. Ask friends and family members to help you with your special day! I think if done in moderation, this helps create a more memorable day for both the bride and groom and their friends and family.

4. Definitely taste your food and desserts before booking...you want it to taste as good as it looks!

5. Try as hard as possible to relax and enjoy everything along the way. It's a once in a lifetime experience and don't let something small or petty get in the way!

Melody answers a few questions for us about her own special day...

What was your favorite thing about your own wedding?
My favorite part of my wedding day was getting to share it with friends and family. I loved planning it all and seeing it come to life was a dream come true!

If you could change one thing about your wedding, what would it be?
I would change the temperature! It was the hottest day of the year on my wedding day and it was outdoors!

Thank you, Melody, for those great tips!
