In July I had the pleasure of creating a dessert table for a very special "client", my 5 year old niece, Maddie. Like her aunt, she has a major sweet tooth, so a table like this was the perfect gift for her. Her party was held at a bounce-house activity center, so I chose to work in colors that complemented the facility's color scheme which was bright and primary colors.
The table included party props and decor some of my favorite go-to sources for kids' parties, including a patriotic banner from
Hip Hooray, party pinwheels from
Pinwhirls.com and polka dot Oreos from
Sweeties by Kim -- a great shop on
Etsy.

Party labels were created in a banner motif by a graphic designer friend of mine, thanks Amy B! |

Originally I had planned to put this colorful lollipop "centerpiece" on the food table, but the venue wouldn't let me put glass on the kids' food tables |
|
Favors for the kiddies were frosted sugar cookies from Cake Bake Shop in Manhattan Beach. I challenged the owner (and friend) Laura to do pennant cookies. We added a label on the back thanking the kids for coming to Maddie's party! |

Since the party was in Southern California, I had fun using my mom's stash of vases & containers! |

Holy moly, I wish you were MY aunt!! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo bright and cheery. Your niece is very lucky to have such a creative Aunt. Glad the pinwheels were a hit - love how they were integrated, especially with the pennants. And those oreos are adorable. I love sweets, but those are just too cute to eat. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, all pictures area really great. I like the ways of presentation here. There is a sense of fashion and style to cooking, just like there is to clothing.
