Shawna Gohel is the owner and founder of Maharani Weddings. The South Asian wedding-focused company began as a side project to her career in Finance and has blossomed into a full service wedding planning company that specializes in Indian weddings. Here are Shawna's Five Quick Wedding Planning Tips:

1. There is nothing more important than a happy bride.  Make sure you choose a make-up artist who makes you look and FEEL fantastic. Energy is contagious, so if you feel great, your bridesmaids feel great, your mom feels great, and it snowballs from there!

2. Choose a photographer who is EXPERIENCED with Indian weddings. If your photographer hasn’t dodged an elephant to get amazing shot, keep looking.

3. Maximize décor to where you are going to spend your time.  Spend more money on your sweetheart table and less on the cocktail hour. Trust me, when you see your pictures, you will know you made the right choice.

4. Any bride having her photographer or cinematographer on hand while she is getting ready needs to think about what she will be wearing!  Nothing ruins these gorgeous shots more than some old jammies, so make sure you get yourself a beautiful robe!

5. Leave the flowers and fluff to your friends, but make sure that you involved your significant other.  Every guy loves food, drinks, and picking out music, so make sure that you ask for his help.  That way it feels like “our” wedding instead of “my” wedding.
