Hula Luau Party!

In May Janice and I worked on a super cute luau party for a young girl's 7th birthday party. We chose bright colors, some colorful tropical decor, beautiful linens and a few fun crafts. See below for some candid shots of this festive day. The hostess hired us along with Kids Posh Parties to make sure her daughter and her friends had a day to remember.

We had a choice of activities and I knew fun crafts that were takeaways would be ones that the girls would like (and the crafts could also double as favors). First up was a decorate your own grass skirt station. I bought the grass skirts at a dollar store, and then Kids Posh Parties brought ribbons and flowers that the girls then attached to make their own unique skirt.

The second craft of the day was a decorate your own flip flop table. We used inexpensive flip flops from Old Navy and again Kids Posh Parties had fun stickers, sequins and decorative items so each girl could make herself a pretty pair.

Once they were well-accessorized (including floral leis, of course), the girls got a hula dancing lesson before heading inside for a tropical buffet lunch. I picked out a bright floral linen from La Tavola Linen and I came up with the idea to top the table with pineapples and coconuts from the grocery store (a nice floral alternative, and you could eat them after the party!), we also added some big green leafs from the dollar store as well.
No party is complete without cupcakes so for this shindig we ordered them from Sibby's Cupcakery -- my go-to bakery on the Peninsula. And before they left, each girl received a pink bag, with a pink towel and sunscreen, perfect for a summer day.

One last fun decorative item to share: so the girls would get the "full" luau experience, Kids Posh Parties hung these fun green tinsel garlands from the entrance to club so that it felt like they were entering the tropics as they arrived!
